Horst Schwab GmbH, founded as a landscaping enterprise at the beginning of the Seventies, has developed a range of technologies and products to improve the capabilities of grassed surfaces in the field of sporting grounds and turf roll production. With our background and knowledge, we have developed a new product range, Schwabengitter®, which replaces conventional grass paving systems and gravel grassed areas. Schwabengitter® is a grass paving system made of plastics. We have managed to eliminate all disadvantages of conventional concrete grids. For over fifteen years now, Schwabengitter® units have been used with great success worldwide. What is Schwabengitter®?

Schwabengitter® is a grass paving system used for various areas of application.
The product range includes four different versions:

Schwabengitter® 2000 replaces conventional grass paving systems on gravel surfaces; Schwabengitter® Ontop is intended to be used on top of existing or onto newly laid grassed surfaces and is ready to be used. It is almost invisible and protects the turf. Schwabengitter® Ontop requires no substructure and is able to support light traffic on firm ground; Schwabengitter® Elastic as well as Schwabengitter® Paddock are products especially developed to meet the requirements in constructing riding grounds.

  The light weight and the above mentioned characteristics of Schwabengitter® make an extremely fast installation possible, thus enabling us to reduce the installation costs to a minimum of the costs of a paved surface.

  Schwabengitter® units can be laid on undulating surfaces and gradients; Schwabengitter® units fi t extremely well together due to the elastic material and the circular joints. They are connected by lugs and slots and these unique flexible elements show an entirely connected structure and conform to irregular areas. Schwabengitter® can be supplied in large quantities ex stock. We are able to supply Schwabengitter® units within 24 hours due to our competitiveness and efficiency.
  
• Schwabengitter® - almost invisible
  As it is only 4 mm thick, it can be almost invisible in a well-tended grassed area. Schwabengitter® is extremely UV resistant as well. Areas laid with Schwabengitter® units remain green for a long period of time – even if exposed to heavy loads. The open base enables unrestricted root growth.
  
• Schwabengitter® - environmentally-friendly
  Schwabengitter® units consists of pure recycled polyethylene. Hence it is environmentally-friendly and can be completely recycled. A grassed surface with Schwabengitter® units of about 250 m² produces oxygen for a four-people-household. As Schwabengitter® units are very thin, more than 90 % of the area remains uncovered and water can sink into soil. This is very important especially in cities in order to improve the production of oxygen.
  
• Schwabengitter® - durable
  Despite the light weight, Schwabengitter® units offer a load bearing capability of up to 150 to/m². This is far more than the weight of a crane.
  
• Schwabengitter® - versatile
  Schwabengitter® is suitable for permanent and overspill car parks, parking lots, fi re and service access roads, drives, paths and cycle routes, camping areas, pedestrian access roads, golf buggy paths, caravan and leisure site access routes, light aircraft parking, protecting grassed areas in public, camping sites, horse-riding paths etc.
