Since our robust manual turf-laying machines have been in operation for six years without interruption, we have now developed a motorised laying machine for 60 cm wide turf rolls. By using this motorised turf-laying machine three men can lay up to 2,000 square metres of lawn per day without undue effort. This makes the turf-laying process even quicker and easier for the laying team. Originally developed for our own turf-laying crew, the machine has been continuously improved and optimised over the past three years for everyday use on building sites. The machine is economically viable for areas of 150 square metres and more, and makes dealing with turf noticeably easier. All sports field construction companies, groundsmen, greenkeepers and landscape gardeners who deal regularly with lawns can now either purchase a laying machine or rent it whenever they need to lay an area of turf.
When packed for transport the laying machine takes up no more space than a normal wire mesh crate. Once it reaches the building site the wheels are adjusted back to the laying position and locked and the machine is then ready for use. It can be used for transporting and laying 60-cm medium rolls. The laying machine has a small petrol-driven engine which operates a hydraulic pump. The front wheels are driven hydrostatically, as are the hydraulic arms which are used to lift the roll. Once the machine reaches the site where the turf is to be laid the roll is lowered to the ground and unrolled backwards. Another man uses a rake to position the turf strip next to the lawn which has already been laid. And that’s all there is to it.
Even in difficult or hilly terrain, on slopes or embankments and when long transport distances are involved, this turf-laying machine is the fastest, simplest and most robust way of laying medium-sized turf rolls without effort.
